As far as helping methods go it is easier to sell so-called expertise, methods, and quick fixes. We tend to want ready answers, thus cookie-cutter wisdom, but wisdom cannot be packaged. It is not wooden or simplistic.
More often than not real change requires significant shifts in perspective and motivation; the kind of reorientation that wisdom requires. Wise counseling should take up a wider swath of life than just the problem that got your attention in the first place.
By the grace of God wisdom can be found; it is out in the open, but it must be sought after diligently and with an open heart.
