For many, the connection between counseling and theology is not clear. Our tendency is to look to the field of psychology for answers to personal problems and to look to the Bible for answers to spiritual questions. But in fact theology, properly understood, is intensely personal. It should not be an “ivory tower” endeavor, isolated from real life. It is basically a way of thinking about God, the world, and people. In that sense, we are all theologians. What we think about God affects what we believe, our daily decisions, the way we see ourselves and others. We can trust that the Bible understands who we are and the life we live.
